Welcome to our music studio . . .

Piano
Students love playing the baby grand piano at the Sounds of Joy Music Studio. It strengthens their fingers and they get to hear themselves making beautiful music during their very first lesson.
There's plenty of room in the studio to stretch their arms and legs and release all the tension in their their hands and shoulders to create that totally awesome piano posture.
We teach ages 5-85+.
For our younger students, we have risers for the piano bench so that their arms are above the white keys and can push down the keys with ease. Plus, we have a footrest that keeps their feet from dangling in the air. This helps them recognize what they need in their practice space at home so they can experience long lasting love and energy from playing piano.
We even have a table top surface with high chairs where we play music games, and compose rhythm patterns with a variety of learning manipulatives. No two lessons are the same around here.
All learning materials are printed in-house and is included in the annual supply fee. Each music student brings their own 3-ring binder with inside pockets.
An itemized invoice and receipt will be issued each month or per lesson depending on your music lesson package chosen.
Parents are welcome to attend the first three or all of the lessons. We have a special sitting area prepared for you. There are no toys for siblings but there is room for them to bring their own toy and play quietly in the sitting area. The props and costumes in the studio are strictly for the music students.
For online students, depending on their age, Parents will need to attend every lesson.
Now, you want to go over to the Piano page that will tell all about the actual "lessons" and how much fun we all have together learning music, composition and playing piano with backing tracks.

Voice
Some students take both piano and voice lessons and that's a swell of fun that just continues for a quick passing hour whether taking online or in-person.
Voice students will have their own cushion chair with music stand as they learn to sing from a sitting as well as a standing position.
Some students are actually learning to play piano for themselves while they sing songs they've composed themselves for family and friends. Of course, this takes time, effort and dedication to acquire such wonderful achievement, but oh, so worth it all.
It's best to start younger voices learning how to prevent vocal injury as they dress up in costumes and learn funny (and purposeful) songs. The holidays are extra special as we gather a repertoire of favorites to sing for family and friends during festive events.
Voice students will also learn music elements to read music to decide for themselves if a song is what they'd like to work on - or not. Every song has its assets and liabilities and we help our singers build confidence by working through even their most challenging areas of a song.
The majority of materials are printed in-house for a nominal monthly fee that covers paper and ink. Each student brings their own 3-ring binder with inside pockets to store their materials.

Songwriting
Students are encouraged to explore all their desires to create music, whether it's for their personal enjoyment, worshiping God or for sharing with others.
In the other music lesson packages, music composition will be explored and experienced by all to varying degrees for both online and in-person students.
This particular Songwriting course is all online at your own pace and convenience and requires no prior knowledge of music. You don't even need an instrument to take the course.
This online course, called the "BrainPower Music Society" is prepared especially for the non-musician who knows little to nothing about music and doesn't desire to become a performer or recording artist or be heard at all except for their own personal enjoyment.
Non-musicians can now experience the same brain reorganization and networking as well as the opening of neural canals that full-time musicians do. Non-musicians can experience the transformational value of music in their lives beyond listening to the radio or going to a concert.
Well now is that time to jump on over to the Songwriting lessons page to see what truly happens during an online lesson at Sounds of Joy Music Studio and the "BrainPower Music Society".
If this is your first and foremost choice for self-paced, online music lessons, please, let us know by CONTACTING us here. Thank you!
Mission Statement
Sounds of Joy Music Studio seeks to engage students with their unique learning styles in a musical journey that is customized for their individual and/or group success.
Vision
To ensure each student realizes their God-given ability to bring joy into any atmosphere through prayerfully presented music, no matter how novice or advanced their skills or what learning challenges they are overcoming.
Core Values
-
We are followers of Jesus Christ. We commit to follow to the best of our current understanding, which is constantly growing through daily Bible Study, the fundamental values of the Bible-based Christian Faith. We believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day so that when we believe and accept Jesus as our personal Savior, we will spend eternity in heaven with Him. It is our prayer that all our students will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
-
We make sure that all music selections are clean, family-friendly, carrying the weight of Christian Biblical worldview values, or at the least, not defying any Christian values whatsoever. Music Selection is a healthy collaboration between parents, students, and myself, as the teacher.
-
We're all about variety and adaptability. We learn through play, creativity and exploration - but we also work hard to get better at music-making and develop life skills like grit, focus, determination, and resilience. We use innovative, customized, and/or specialty-developed curriculum to help each student experience real success when playing piano or through singing expression. We believe anyone can learn to play or sing music when given a supportive environment and the right encouragement along the way!
-
Lessons include uniquely designed online and in-person games to reinforce concepts learned. Music should be fun and engaging even when the brain's neural canals are widening in the developing process to receive, retain, and retrieve coordinated hand/eye skills to read, play, notate, and/or compose music. This customization isn't just for upcoming pianists but also for our younger singers, teens, and adults desiring to learn vocal techniques.
Even advanced students may not have a pure concept of developing good, practice habits. Yet, it is vitally important every student (and parent) realize the continual progress they are making each week. Practice skills become part of weekly routines that train students in self-assessment as well as self-discipline, and above all, resilience.
